Get To Know Cliff:
Cliff Schadt was literally born into the horse world on Long Island, NY. He is a second-
generation horse trainer. His Mother trains hunter/jumpers, and his Uncle trains and shows
Grand Prix Jumpers. At a young age, Cliff began training horses for the public. Cliff has
trained at major farms and ranches across the United States. He has vast experience and is
highly skilled in many disciplines, including but not limited to, Polo and Hunter/Jumpers,
Western Pleasure, Roping, Trail, Gymkhana and Working Ranch Horses. Cliff has competed
on the East and West Coasts  at many major shows, in  AQHA, NCHA, and NBHA events.
Although he is skilled in both English and Western styles of riding, his passion is in colt
starting and working with "problem horses".

As a young trainer Cliff’s first taste of Ranch life (outside of the family farm) was at the Ely
Ranch in Missouri, where he began to hone his skills riding and training . Cliff later moved
to Oregon to pursue his career and work as a professional cowboy in all areas of ranch life.
Cliff easily adapted to the Cowboy lifestyle on large ranches. Cliff’s expertise includes all
aspects of horse care. He has experience in breeding and foaling as well as  hoof care,
nutrition, injuries and illnesses.

Cliff has applied his skills training horses for US Olympic Equestrian Team Gold Medal
Winner in the 1986 Olympic games, Melanie Smith Taylor. He also trained horses for the
Coca Cola Polo Team. He has ridden along side legendary Trainer and Clinician Buck
Brannaman. Cliff was most recently working as a professional cowboy in Montana where he
was deeply involved in all aspects of the horse industry from Colt Starting and Training to
Sales and conducting Horsemanship Clinics. Cliff is excited to be closer to his family and be
back working in New York.

Cliff utilizes a unique style of training. Whether he is working with a young racehorse
hopeful,  the first ride gathering cattle on a future ranch horse, or your family Trail Horse,
the factor at work here is a common sense approach to horsemanship.  He puts the horse
first.  All of the horses Cliff trains, regardless of discipline, are taught the basics.  Cliff
finds the natural lightness and balance in each horse and then builds on this until he has
willing partner that is a joy to ride. Not only talented in working with horses,  Cliff is also a
gifted instructor, known for his easy going attitude and patient manner. This makes for a
very pleasant and conducive learning environment. He is a favorite clinician and trainer
among young and old alike. Cliff is currently available booking Training Horses, Lessons and
Clinics. Training programs are customized to meet the needs of the individual and the horse.
