Hi- I'm Scout , a Quarter Horse Gelding. I'm almost 16H and a flea-bitten grey. I used to work on a ranch in South Western Texas and rope cows. Now I live at Charlotte Creek Stables in New York. I am also a member of the American Competitive Trail Horse Association, and I am a competitor in ACTHA's TV Reality show "America's Favorite Trail Horse". I love trail riding, working cattle, and have recently discovered I am also good at English & Western shows. I do hunter paces, Extreme Cowboy Races, I guide trail rides, pen and sort cattle, and in general, grace people with my presence. I am "Tough Enough To Wear Pink" and support breast cancer research whenever I can, proudly wearing pink! I'm an older guy who's worked for a living my whole life. I got replaced on the ranch by a younger, faster crew and found my way north to Pennsylvania, That's where a gentleman saw me and knew of the perfect home for me. There was a girl in New York who had been looking for a guy like me for a LONG time. It wasn't exactly love at first site though. Somebody gave me a goofy hair cut, but Tracy swears she looked past that. I was much bigger then she was hoping for, and she was much smaller than I'd expected! I was used to doing things quickly, and she wasn't. Somewhere along the line I developed a bad habit of shaking and tossing my head, which didn't go over well either. But,we decided to work on it together, and we both learned to trust each other. I learned to stop and smell the roses, and she learned to let me be "me" sometimes. Together we've logged hundreds of miles of trails, raised money for numerous charities, and we found trust and love in an unlikely pair. AND, you can teach an old horse new tricks... Watch me learning to pick up a hat! My Regional Auditons are April 23rd... Hopefully you will be seeing us on TV and at the National Finals in Texas May 8-12th... We'll keep you posted! Wish us luck! (and PLEASE "Like" my Facebook page - Its a lot of work to type with hooves) |
